Clear choices, respectful design

Privacy policy

Effective and last updated August 10, 2026. This policy explains how Maple Joy Studio handles information when you use VocaLuma.

1. Overview

VocaLuma is a local-first Android vocabulary-learning app. You can study without creating an account. If you choose to sign in, VocaLuma can synchronize your learning progress across devices and provide authenticated online features.

Our core commitments: we do not sell your personal information, the website does not use advertising trackers, and the app remains usable locally without signing in.

2. Information we handle

Information stored on your device

Words, review history, learning status, favorites, settings, streaks, achievements, quiz results, and related study data are stored locally on your device. Local data remains on that device until you reset it, clear the app's data, or uninstall the app.

Account information

If you sign in with Google or email, authentication services provide a stable account identifier and may provide your email address, display name, sign-in method, and email-verification status. VocaLuma uses this information to authenticate you, display your account, protect synchronized data, and provide account controls.

Cloud-synchronized learning data

When you are signed in, VocaLuma may upload and merge settings, word progress, favorites, review and session records, daily statistics, achievements, and synchronization metadata such as revision numbers, timestamps, and unique mutation identifiers. This information is associated with your authenticated account identifier.

Personalized practice requests

When you choose to create a personalized activity in VocaLuma AI Lab, the words, activity type, level, language, and instructions you submit are transmitted to our authenticated service and to an AI-processing service so the requested activity can be generated. Do not submit confidential or sensitive personal information in these requests.

Technical information

Our hosting, authentication, network, and security providers may process standard technical data such as IP address, request time, device or browser information, and security logs to deliver and protect the service. VocaLuma also enforces service limits using your account identifier and request timing.

3. How we use information

  • Provide the app, authentication, cloud sync, account management, and requested learning activities.
  • Merge progress safely across devices and prevent duplicate synchronization operations.
  • Protect users, diagnose service failures, enforce reasonable usage limits, and prevent abuse.
  • Respond to support, privacy, and account-deletion requests.
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.

4. Service providers and sharing

We use service providers for authentication, cloud infrastructure, website hosting, secure network delivery, and AI processing. They receive only the information reasonably necessary to provide those services and process it under their own terms and privacy obligations.

We may disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights or safety of users and the public, or in connection with a business reorganization subject to appropriate protections. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

5. Retention and deletion

Local learning data remains on your device as described above. Synchronized account and learning data is retained while your account is active or as needed to provide the service. Limited security, transaction, or legal records may be retained longer where reasonably necessary.

You can use the in-app account controls to delete your VocaLuma cloud data and Firebase-authenticated account. You may also request help by emailing maplestudioinfo@gmail.com. Deleting cloud data does not automatically erase learning data stored locally on your phone.

6. Your choices and rights

  • Use the app locally without signing in.
  • Sign out to stop new cloud synchronization until you sign in again.
  • Manage or delete cloud account data through the app.
  • Reset local learning progress through the app or Android system settings.
  • Ask for access, correction, deletion, or other rights available under applicable law by contacting us.

We may need to verify your identity before completing a privacy request.

7. Security and international processing

We use authentication tokens, encrypted HTTPS connections, access controls, account-scoped storage, and operational safeguards designed to protect information. No online service can guarantee absolute security. Service providers may process information in countries other than your own, where privacy laws may differ.

8. Children's privacy

VocaLuma is a general-audience learning app and is not designed to solicit sensitive personal information from children. If you believe a child provided personal information without any consent required by local law, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the app, law, or our service providers change. We will post the updated version here and change the effective date. Material changes may also be communicated in the app or through another appropriate notice.
